Levi’s Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers, is the first professional football stadium in the United States to receive LEED Gold certification as new construction. Despite a green roof and photovoltaic panels, the facilities operations team needed a solution to address the growing waste of energy by electronic appliances running 24/7 on event days and dark days alike.
Keewi installed smart adaptors for existing plugs inside Levi’s stadium’s concession stands. The adaptors were used to
collect high-frequency power signature data for each appliance, and
add a switch to each plug such that power to individual appliances could be remotely turned off on dark days.
A potential 75% savings was identified for the concession stands by setting automated schedules for appliances to be turned off during the off-season and between games during the season.
52 hrs of manual plug inventorying per building
17X faster plug data collection
"Keewi has a great program for the reduction of electrical plug loads, that engages building occupants to manage their electrical use."
Electrical appliances were left on 24/7 even when unused
32% savings in plug load energy use in offices
50% higher energy use compared to ZNE building model
Removed operational uncertainty and identified energy hogs
